I rarely comment on news items, but these two blips are beyond ludicrous. The PRS is the British equivalent of the RIAA, who, we assume, will surely adopt these Draconian regulations in an effort to squeeze the last penny out of anyone dumb enough to hum in public.

Oh Good Grief.
As my mother always said, common sense isn't all that common.
There's some real craziness re copyright and such stuff in the UK and Canada lately. Cory Doctorow's always railing against it.
There's going to be a huge backlash at some point, mark my words.
wow. creepy.
Honestly, if the PRS and even the dear Beeb, don't 'get with the program' soon, they will find themselves seriously left behind. In this age of transparency and free media access for all, hacking off their potential customers is only going to come back to haunt them.
Jane is correct. They are turning away their own market.
amazing, talking about using creativity in wrong ways
Wow. Just...wow.
As I hum while spinning and knitting in my own home, I am amazed anyone could think up this stuff! Fie on them!
Oh I so agree. I used to be sympathetic, but I saw a smarmy record producer on television recently getting self-righteous about it and I turned: I can't see why he should continue to be paid for work he did 15 years ago.
