A Bit of Progress...

...On Harry's Shawl. I am not sure I like it, actually. I'll do a few more repeats on the center before I decide whether to continue.

I have to say I really like it as well. Particularity the second pattern from the bottom. That is a motifs that I haven't seen used a lot before and I think it adds a nice modern balance to the traditional motifs.

Dear Kitty Kitty--Considering that Harry made up that motif from an arrangement of rice crackers, it's no surprise that you haven't seen that motif before :)

I love it! Original, yet rooted in tradition. I think Harry's doing a wonderful job.

Pretty pretty! Since I still remember the original inspiration, I can't help smiling when looking at them!

When I grow up I want to be able to knit like Fleegle! Pretty webs.

Oh my! It is stunning! What do you not like about it?

Dear Kate:

I am not sure what I don't like about it. I have a feeling, from the comments, that I am just tired of Shetland lace patterns. They are all starting to look alike. I think a few weeks away from it will improve my critical eye.

I think you need to knit a little more of it before you decide. Take a step back from it and look at it from a distance. I think once your eye becomes accustomed to the look of the new stitch patterns Harry has invented that you will like it. I think it looks very interesting myself.

I really like it, too. I think it looks wonderful the way all the motifs are lining up so well, without too much "empty" space in between.

For what it's worth, it has my vote. I think it looks elegant.

it looks beautiful from here. i love the stacked angularity.

Go knit some socks, then come back to it. You've clearly got Shetland Burnout Syndrome (SBS). It's gorgeous-way to choose the red yarn like I suggested. :)

I like it too Fleegle, but I think Jane's suggestion of knit a bit more before you decide is a wise one and then perhaps put it out of sight for a few weeks and then make a decision when you see it again with fresh eyes...

A different type of lace knitting for a few weeks may help and make you want to go back to Harry's shawl....

It's imaginative, creative and unique. All the things, that I think, make knitting fun.

I like it. Of course, I am not the one knitting it. If you don't feel the love, don't!

I think it's very pretty. If you end up not liking it, though, you might want to make swatches in a variegated yarn and a fingering weight. Maybe it wants to be knit in a different yarn.
