Easy Come, Easy Go

Well, it was certainly an eventful day. With no notice whatsoever, my company shut its doors. Worse, it shut its doors owing me a lot on money. I was also bemused to see my name spelled incorrectly on the severance letter, which sternly admonished me to refrain from discussing anything about this incident with anyone, including family pets, houseplants, or myself.

On the bright side, Harry offered to contribute to the household income by accepting a karaoke gig in Bulgaria. He then threw himself into a bottle of sake, where he has remained for most of the afternoon.

While he is in his state of inebriation, I was able to get into my stash again and sort through it.

As is often the case with stash, I found quite a lot of it that I will never use. I want to say that no offer is too small to be refused, but that's not the case. However, if you have a reasonable bid for the lace yarns listed below, I sure would like to hear it.

Katsara Yarns Alpaca Fingering--Coleus (two skeins available)
1000 yards, $38 per skein, including US postage

I shall post sock and miscellaneous other yarns for sale next week. Harry is now sleeping off his sake binge on the sock stash and I don't want to disturb him.

I'm so sorry about the job. I got a lay off notice on Monday 3/23 - it would have been Friday 3/20 except I took the day off sick. My letter says not to discuss them either - but I really don't think they're worth the effort.

Selling stash stinks unless it's to finance more stash. I hope that's your rationale.

Oh, no! That absolutely stinks. Here's hoping you can get what they owe you.

Also appologies.

Will it help if I take that Dream in Color laceweight off your hands?

Please send your paypal so I can send you the payment.

I'm so sorry you lost your job. Does this mean you'll have more knitting time?

Man, that stinks. I don't know why companies do things like that sudden-like. :(

Maybe I could trade my Liten Spindel to you for yarn?

Booo! I'm sorry about your company. That sucks - especially that they owe you money! Best of luck to you and Harry; I hope it ends with you having more money than they owe you in the first place. :D

I'm sorry to hear about your job and hope it means you will be able to spend your time somewhere more worthy of your talents. Not to mention protecting your stash from Harry. I'd be happy to purchase the Kangaroo Dyer-Atlantis and Zephyr-Violet at your listed price. Let me know how to proceed.

Hi,
Sorry to hear about the job.
But I would like to buy the Lisa Souza Alpaca Lace in Seafoam for $33 including shipping.
Could that be including shipping to Canada? If you send by International First Class it will be very cheap - the same as the US or only a buck more.

You can reach me at bernol at sympatico dot ca
I can pay through Paypal right away.

I had to quit work last year due to illness - it's a hard thing - hugs.

Ouch! I'm so sorry about your job! I hope that poor Harry doesn't go too nuts in his quest to help...

That's crummy news about the job - sorry!

bummer about the job, I'd check with the Dept. of Labor about the severance pay. On the bright side, this will (hopefully) give you more time to knit!

Glad Harry has given you a break in his own inimitable way, hope that selling some of your stash makes room for new and wonderful things.

Hope you're all mended, and feeling well!

I am horrified. That is such a low blow. They owe you a buttload of money, close their doors and expect you to protect them by not naming names? Argh!

Shea said...

How awful! I'm very sorry to hear about it. Here's hoping something else comes along soon for you!

Ouch! Is the book designing job the one that disappeared? Sooo sorry. Will keep my eye out for more destashing.

I know I am late chiming in, but wanted to send sympathy about the job thing. I hope you are regrouping and figuring out a new plan. I know I need a few days to just feel upset after things like that happen. Then you go find the next thing to do..

I'm sorry to hear about your job and the short notice. That really sucks. I hope that they provide you with severance soon.

That's a bummer. It always baffles me when I'm watching repeats of Law and Order, which is my main source of information about life in the US, how the First Amendment allows all the 'wrong' people to blab as much as they like, but that companies can stop the 'right' people from saying what they want. Seriously, I'm sorry to hear about it and hope something crops up soon.
