I just love Photoshop! With a quick whisk of a wand and brush, you too can visualize your knitting in any color you like. For example...
This is soooo much easier than actually swatching. I am in love with the dark blue, which I think might work for the Unst shawl, The Next Lunatic Project.
Let me know if there's another color you would like me to, erm, virtually swatch.
I like the dark blue too, it looks the classiest, and besides, I think deep saturated colors show off lace better than white or ecru.
ReplyDeleteMe too. I have the most beautiful shade of dark, ruby red Gentle, but I have my heart set on a rich, dark blue. I just can't find yarn in that color at the moment.
ReplyDeleteVery cool special effects! I love the deep red. You might try Blackberry Ridge lace yarn for a deep blue, or Morehouse Merino; both have deeper blue colors available. And Ornighi Filati has a deep purple that looks more navy, at least in the photos. Jamieson & Smith 2 ply shetland also has some deep blue shades.

ReplyDeleteAlas, both Blackberry Ridge and Moorhouse are too heavy for the Unst shawl. Jamison's Shetland is too scratchy. I shall investigate Ornighi Filati and see what they have.
ReplyDeleteI bought both the purple and deep blue Gentle, but neither are exactly the shade of blue I am looking for. I want something dark but bright. Like the swatch. I don't even want to THINK about dying the yarn...
I have to agree that the dark blue is very attractive. I have swatched in a navy blue but I also have something a little less dark I might use. Too many choices!
ReplyDeleteZephyr must have a shade that suits, I'd think. But then, I like Zephyr so I'm a bit prejudiced.
ReplyDeleteThe rich red would be great for something with a heart theme or jewel-shapes (diamonds, lozenges). I'm into heart shapes now - cables, lace patterns. Don't know why, just collecting them, swatching them, sometimes using them.
